Philadelphia Jury Awards $28 Million in Xarelto Trial

Levin Sedran & Berman partners, Michael Weinkowitz and Fred Longer, and other members of the plaintiff’s trial team tried to verdict the first successful Xarelto case in the United States. The Philadelphia jury ordered pharmaceutical giants, Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Bayer Corporation, to pay plaintiff Lynn Hartman $1.8 million in actual damages and $26 million in punitive damages, totaling nearly $28 million. Mr. Weinkowitz is co-liaison counsel for the entire Philadelphia Mass Tort Program involving Xarelto and Mr. Longer is a member of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the federal multidistrict litigation, In re Xarelto Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2592 (E.D. La.).
